Ever wondered how popular phrases were conceived?
I can only assume that this is the very essence of a cock and balls story

As to the etymology of the phrase 'cock and bull story', if you are interested, one possible explanation is connected to two inns - The Cock and The Bull - on the road from London to Birmingham, in the town of Stony Stratford (now on the edge of Milton Keynes). A Cock and Bull Story being one that was told around these two dubious watering holes, passed around by travellers and often not worthy of credence.
I believe that both pubs are still serving, so I'd like to believe it's true.
